Best Records of 2011
Jamie’s Fourth Annual Best Records of the Year List (Read last year’s here).
- Liam Finn - FOMO: My mom loves Neil Finn from Crowed House and Split Enz, so it only makes sense that I love his son!
- Friendly Fires - Pala: Ah a whole album about unrequited love set to a 90s club beat! Brilliant! Sounds like something they play at The Haçienda.
- Foster The People - Torches: My mom thinks these guys are cute. She’s right, they are totally cute BUT they are also pretty talented. I like to do some Robyn-esque dancing to this album.
- Cut Copy - Zonoscope: The modern day Australian Spandau Ballet.
- Miles Kane - Colour Of The Trap: When I look at this album cover I think “now that’s my definition of a cool guy.”
- Raphael Saadiq - Stone Rollin’: Another solid Motown throwback album from Ray-Ray.
- Florence & The Machine - Ceremonials: “Bedroom Hymns” is the coolest songs of the year. Favorite line: “Woooooooooahwoooahhhwowowyeeeeahhhh HUH!”
- Arctic Monkeys - Suck It And See: I’m continually impressed by these guys. Like Brad Pitt, they get better with age.
- My Morning Jacket - Circuital: I’ve almost sang along to “Victory Dance” a few times on the bus.
- Yacht - Shangri-La: I think these guys might be more obsessed with the occult than a certain someone I know. As above, so below. HUH!
